Danielle Logan is Visiting Today!

Greetings Everyone!

Today, Danielle Logan is visiting my blog today to talk about her first book, Taming the Preacher's Daughter.

Can you please tell us a little bit about your story?
My book is coming of age Christian Domestic Discipline story. The heroine, Savi, is a preacher’s daughter who is coming into her own and wants her own identity. She figures the best way to do that is to turn away from her father’s church and what it teaches. Then she finds out the man of her dreams attends the church, and it turns her life into turmoil.

I thought that it was very interesting that the plot started with the church advocating domestic Discipline relationships. What made you write it that way?
I came to learn about Domestic Discipline trough a friend who is also an author. I read her books, then I began to read blogs. The blogs at first were just DD, then I found blogs about Christian Domestic Discipline, I fell in love with the Christian Domestic Discipline lifestyle. It really called to me, I felt as though I needed to write about it.

You might be surprised to hear this, but this was my first ever book that I read with the focus of Christian Domestic Discipline. There was the constant theme in your story that Savi had to go out and find herself. Do you think that she finally did or else will we be hearing back from her in another story?
You will definitely be hearing from Savi again. She hasn’t got this whole submissive thing down yet.

Haha! I'm sure that Eric will have fun teaching her the "submissive thing". I love the character of Josalyn! She reminded me so much of my best friend and how we tell each other pretty much everything. Do you have a best friend like Josalyn too?
Actually Josalyn is based on my sister. Let me tell you a little secret, they actually share the same name!

Awww! That's so sweet! Now, my favorite question to ask new authors who come on my blog...What is your writing style?
Well, I never would have described myself as this before I heard the term, but I am a pantser. I never have a storyline, I just fly by the seat of my pants.

Hmmm...another fellow pantster! :-) Are you working on any stories?
I currently have four books in my head, three have to do with Savi and her family and one is still just a thought.

When you aren't writing, what does a normal day look like for you?
I am a wife and mother of four. My oldest is 12 while my youngest is 1 so they keep me extremely busy. I am also a full time college student, so I don’t spend a lot of time writing, its more of a hobby.

Full time college student AND a mother to four children AND an author...*jaw drops* You're a Super Mom! Now my absolute favorite game to play...Five Question Game!
What's your favorite color?
Orange

That's a unique favorite color. :-) Which Harry Potter novel is your favorite and why?
None, let’s talk Twilight, Divergent or The Hunger Games.

If you could time travel, what year would you chose to go back to and why?
1950’s, and the music I’d love to meet Richie Valens, the Big Bopper and Buddy Holly before they passed.

My age is showing, I've never heard of any of the people you mentioned above. Who's an author role model for you?
Ms. Rayanna Jamison

Awww! Rayanna is very sweet and I do love her stories too!! What does an ideal day sound like to you?
No kids, wine and a bubble bath. I know its lame, but just some peace and quiet would be nice.

Your idea of an ideal day sounds so relaxing! Now, can we please have an excerpt from your story!

After leaving the den, Savi headed back to her room to get ready for the night. She pulled her hair into a high ponytail, and added a flower to it. She then slipped herself into a slinky cheetah print dress that fit her like a glove. She put on some red high heels, and then covered herself with a long coat.

Savi made three stops on her way to Eric’s house, Bobby’s, Josalyn’s and Danny’s. She needed to make amends with them too. At Bobby’s she stayed for a moment and they talked about how Steph had helped her to see that domestic discipline could be a good thing. She now saw that it could teach the woman accountability and let the man be the dominant one in the relationship as God had intended. Savi thanked Steph for her help and then was on her way.

Neither Josalyn nor Danny was home, so she left the letters on their doorsteps. Savi was nervous of what would come next, but she was excited to see the reaction Eric would give her. She was going to make him hers; her goal was to have her way with him, and to get him to forget the crazy way she had acted all summer.

She arrived at Eric’s place, a one-bedroom apartment above a garage that he rented from Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, a sweet elderly couple that attended the church. As Savi got out of her car, she left her coat behind, knowing that Eric would be pleased with what he saw. As she made her way up the stairs, she could feel the butterflies fluttering in the pit of her stomach.

Knocking on the door, she waited for Eric to open it. After a minute she noticed the door handle turning, and her anxiety rose. A man opened the door, and to her dismay it was not Eric. “Um, is Eric here?” Savi asked, her brow wrinkled in confusion. She knew that she had the right house, but she had no idea who this person was, and why he was answering Eric’s door.

“Yes, please come in.” Smiling widely, the man opened the door wider to let her in. “You must be Savannah, I am Eric’s dad, Douglas and this is my wife, Michelle and our daughter, Maya.”

“It’s so nice to meet all of you.” Savi smiled awkwardly, unsure of what else to say, as she wondered why Eric’s family was there. Self-consciously, she wished that she hadn’t left her coat in the car. “Could y’all excuse me for a moment? Do you know where Eric is?” she asked, smiling hopefully.

“He is in the kitchen finishing dinner,” Mrs. Matthews answered. Savi just nodded in reply, kicking herself mentally for already having forgotten the woman’s first name.

As she walked to the kitchen, she felt her annoyance rising, her plans for the evening were ruined, and she certainly hadn’t planned on meeting Eric’s parents tonight! As she walked up behind Eric, she put her arms around his waist and set her chin on his shoulder. “Hey,” she whispered. “Why didn’t you tell me your parents would be here?”

Eric continued to prepare dinner. “I wanted to surprise you, actually I have a few surprises for you tonight.”

“I have a few for you as well,” she stated in a sultry voice.

Smiling, Eric turned around to face her, and she was surprised to see the smile instantly leave his face. “Savi, what are you wearing?” She could see the anger and confusion in his face.

“What, you don’t like it?” she asked, sure that he was not serious. She looked great, and she knew it.

“NO!” Eric said firmly. “And that’s not what I would like my sister to see you wearing, or my parents, for that matter! Oh Savannah,” Eric groaned. “What were you thinking?”

He shook his head back and forth, his face pinched and Savi’s heart dropped. She couldn’t believe that he was angry again! Why did she always have to mess everything up?

“Please go into my room and change. There are some basketball shorts and a tee shirt in the top drawer of my dresser. We will deal with this later,” he instructed, pointing at her clothing.

“I will not go change.” Savi glared at him, stubbornly. “If you want me here then you will have to deal with my clothing choice.”

“Savi, we talked about this.”

“No, you talked about what you wanted, not what I wanted.”

Annoyed with Eric’s old-fashioned views, Savi made her way back into the living room where Eric’s family was waiting. She realized that she knew them from somewhere, but she couldn’t place them. That was when it clicked. They, too, went to Bethel Pentecostal. This made the evening even more uncomfortable for her. If Eric didn’t approve of her dress, she could just guess what his parents and sister were thinking. She never wanted to give a bad impression, especially a first one, but it was too late for that. She knew that his family could feel the tension between her and Eric.

Oh no! It sounds like Savi is going to have a very sore bottom soon! Thank you for that snippet!
