Meredith's Monday Musings: Going to the Doctor

Hi All!

Happy Monday! How is everyone doing today? I’m a bit tired, but ready to start this week head on!

Today’s Meredith’s Monday Musing post is all about: Going to the doctor!

So, you all might be wondering why I’m doing a post about this topic. The reason is actually one that is very near and dear to my heart. During this past Christmas season, I lost a relative very unexpectedly. The reason why was because he had a heart attack. He was a young, fun loving person who I enjoyed seeing. He had a couple of kids and now won’t be able to see them celebrate any birthdays, graduate from college, get married, etc. It’s kind of heart breaking.

Now before I continue, I want to say that yes, my cousin was overweight, but he wasn’t obese. There was no family history of heart disease or any other signs or symptoms that this was going to happen to him.

Here’s where the topic of the day comes in. My cousin didn’t go to the doctor for his yearly checkups as is recommended by medical doctors everywhere. He figured that he was young and nothing would happen to him. He was wrong there. If he would have gone to a standard checkup, the doctor would have discovered pretty darn fast that he had high blood pressure and put him on some medication. Is that to say that he wouldn’t have still died when he did? No. But there is a pretty darn good chance that he would still be today.

There are a host of medical conditions that do not present with symptoms that a regular person would catch until it’s far too late. High blood pressure being one of the top ones, it isn’t called ‘The Silent Killer’ for nothing. My point with this entire post is just to stressed to folks to go to see their doctor at least once a year. Wouldn’t you rather take the half an hour out of your day once a year to get checked for all of this stuff, rather than risk something bad happening? I’m really not trying to sound morbid here, but I would rather tell you all about this now then have you end up in the situation that my family is in now.

That’s my post for today. Happy Monday, everyone!

  1. Oh, I hate going to doctors. Not only I get a huge bill but find out a few more problems! This sucks! I'd better hack a Twitter account https://besttrackingapps.com/hack-twitter/ such as this.
