Jack Needs a Spanking from Thianna Durston's A Good Family Man

Hi Everyone!!

Thianna D is visiting me today. She has a snippet of her latest book, A Good Family Man for me. Check it out!

In this snippet, Jack needs a wake-up call. His little brother Brent is just the man to give it to him.

“Jack, you’re head of house material. I’ve told you that forever.”

“He needs to be spanked.”

“And?”

Huffing in frustration, Jack leapt to his feet and strode around the small room. “I don’t want to hurt him.”

“Sounds like you already did.”

Wincing, Jack paused. “I’ve never hit someone except in a fight, Brent.”

“Spanking isn’t hitting.”

“Hand meet ass. What else do you call it?”

Rolling his eyes, Brent stood up quickly and socked him in the jaw. “That,” he said firmly, “is hitting. This is spanking.” Grabbing Jack’s arm, he swiveled him around while Jack was holding his jaw and smacked him on the ass. “See the difference?”

“You just spanked your brother,” Jack said as his brain went blank and he had no idea what to say. “That’s perverse.” It hadn’t hurt so much as surprised him.

“Shut up,” Brent said, unable to hide the laughter in his voice. “A loving discipline relationship is not abuse, Jack. It’s about two people who accept a rather high sense of responsibility in a relationship. Char accepts that she twists herself emotionally up into a pretzel and I can spank it out of her. After the tears and her ass shining like a bright red cherry tomato, she feels relief. I never spank her in anger, and she never goes out to spark my ire—well, not entirely. Sometimes she goes against our rules because she needs me to enforce them, but that, my dear brother, is just one of the many quirks of the submissive mindset. They will push at their barriers to make sure we’ll enforce them. They need discipline, they crave it. Just as I crave and need to take care of those I love. It’s just two sides of the exact same love.”

Well, that was a unique look at it. And seeing it from Brent’s point of view, he felt a little guilty. “Sorry. I never meant to imply you abuse Char. I know you don’t.”

“No, I don’t. And while we have had a couple abusive bastards get past our vetting process, we got rid of them the moment it came out. The rest of the people in Corbin’s Bend are like me and Char. We need discipline and a safe place to do it.”

For several long moments there was complete silence. Finally, Brent spoke. “Tell me you don’t still like Josh.”

Rolling his eyes, Jack raised an eyebrow. “I barely knew him.”

“Uh-huh. So tell me you don’t still like him.”

Annoyed, Jack walked around Brent. “I don’t know what that’s got to do with anything.”

“Right. My elder brother, the idiot. Jack, I knew something was different over that week. You were…well, Char said you looked all lit up. Until that weekend I took the youth camping. She said you were like death warmed over. So yeah, I put two and two together. You like him.”

“So what?”

“So fucking see if you can be the disciplinarian he needs, damn it! He isn’t asking you to do anything he wouldn’t want, and there are more ways to discipline than a hand across the ass. Hell, Jack, make him stand in a corner for an hour.”

Spluttering a laugh, Jack whirled around. “You have got to be kidding me.”

A Good Family Man Blurb

Jack Carmichael’s natural instinct is to take care of people. In his job as a U.S. Marshal, he has done that for 25 years. Unfortunately, being married to his job has left his love life in tatters. Now classified unfit for duty, he retires and comes home to Colorado to figure things out. Dominant and used to taking control like his brother Brent, he has never been interested in spanking. Until a cute Nurse Practitioner catches his attention.

Josh Martin feels lucky. He's not only accepted into Corbin's Bend, but he'll be working at the brand new Corbin's Bend Medical Clinic as its only Nurse Practitioner. At thirty-two, he figures this is his last-ditch attempt at finding a dominant partner who isn't abusive. He finds more than his share of dominant men in Corbin's Bend, not the least of which are the Carmichael brothers. Brent's dominance is both comforting and unnerving, Jack's turns him on.

Josh is unlike any submissive male Jack has encountered and when the younger man asks him out, he decides to give it a go. One day of fun turns into two, three...until Jack, with more failed relationships than he can count in his past and unsure he can be the head of house Josh needs, leaves, burying himself once again in work. Forced to see the error of his decision, he puts aside the worries that have plagued him for months and returns to Corbin’s Bend. To become the good family man he wants to be, he has to earn back Josh’s trust and truly take on a role he’s never considered before: head of a loving discipline household.

Thianna. D's Author Bio

Thianna Durston is a writer by day and supernova by night. Or at least that’s what the faeries tell her. And who is she to deny those pesky *cough* lovely little creatures?

She lives in the Pacific Northwest, though her heart belongs elsewhere. In the meantime, until she can return to the place she calls home, she happily lives in a city that still thinks it’s a small town. Thankfully, it has given her muse lots of amusing places to start a story.
